2007 Champs are back to defend their title.
The season opener is set for May 17 vs. L.A. Sparks here in Phoenix.
Make sure to get your tickets and come early! They will be handing out the 2007 WNBA Championship rings to the team before tip off.
The 34-game regular season for the Mercury begins on May 17 and will run through September 13. There will be a break for the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing from July 28 to August 27.
The 12th WNBA season will include 6 nationally televised Mercury games beginning with the season opener vs. LA. ABC will also be broadcasting the rematch of the 2007 WNBA Finals when the Mercury host the Detroit Shock on June 14.
We can’t forget the Olympics!
We have 3 rock star players participating in the games; Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter on Team USA and Penny Tailor on the Australian team.
The WNBA has not scheduled any games from July 28 to August 27 so the more than 25 WNBA players expected to compete for the gold can represent their countries. Instead the WNBA season will extend three weeks.
